We had looked up reviews before eating here and we were so impressed by the reviews! I can say that the that the reviews are true and based on what is served there! The staff is super nice and very attentive. The tables are close together, but there is plenty of room to move and be comfortable. The craft beer selection is compatible to any other restaurant that serves craft beer. My fiancé was in heaven. There was a nice variety of local beers. They also have many different types of beer. The drink menu offers a nice variety of options for any one needing a cocktail. I had the blueberry mojito. It was definitely refreshing. The drink had fresh limes and fresh blueberries. None of that fake purée. We started out with the vegetable tempura. The vegetables included eggplant, onions, asparagus, sweet potatoes, and broccoli. The vegetables were served with a soy/teriyaki sauce that complimented the vegetables. The batter was light and crispy. Definitely not greasy. Our favorite was the sweet potatoes. The sweetness of the potato added a nice contrast to the savory batter. We shared 3 signature rolls for our main dish. The fish was fresh and was cut well. We ordered the Dynamite roll, G Money roll, and the Ocean City roll. Each of the rolls had good qualities and there was plenty of food for the two of us. We spent about $87 on dinner plus 3 alcoholic beverages. We thought this was a decent price for 3 specialty rolls, an appetizer, and 3 drinks. The only note I have is the close proximity of the tables. This is something they can't change due to the size of the restaurant. We will definitely return.

This place is okay for sushi but expected much better food after seeing the 4-star rating on Yelp. The good: - Menu options. There are plenty of options to choose from - Prices. Pretty much average for sushi rolls ($7-10 per roll) - Miso soup was fine The bad: - House Salad. The ingredients were good but their Ginger dressing needs some improvement. - Flavors. Everything tasted plain.. I assume they need fresher ingredients. Overall, this is not a 4-star sushi restaurant. The flavors are muted and need improvement. Better sushi has been had at the Sakura Japanese Steakhouse chain restaurant.

BEWARE: Server found me online and threatened me over tip! We weren't greeted by anyone when we came in. We asked if we could sit by the window, and the girl who sat us rolled her eyes. Our waitress never introduced herself or told us her name, just asked us rudely what we wanted. We asked for a small thing of sake and received a large, and the waitress gave me attitude when I asked if that was the only size (as we've been coming there for years and have always gotten a smaller one). The waitress also never checked on us - not even to see if our order came out okay, or to see if we wanted anything else at any point. I was facing her direction and actually tried waving her over multiple times (my arms in the air and everything), but she was too busy talking to her coworkers, dancing, jumping behind the sushi line, and goofing around. The restaurant was EMPTY, so she certainly wasn't busy - just careless. I ended up leaving said waitress with no tip, which, being a waitress myself, is something I have NEVER done before, but I was disgusted with her attitude, bad service, and lack of care for us as customers. She knew we weren't happy, and instead of trying to better our experience, or get a manager that could, she just gave us lip and literally ignored us for the rest of our time there. It's actually what our server did AFTER we left, though, that will make me never return to OC wasabi. She took my name from my credit card (now I'm questioning if she took my card number too, so I have to cancel it), and found me online and sent me an incredibly rude message threatening me over her lack of tip. She ended it, "I NEVER FORGET A FACE. KARMA IS REAL AND IT IS A B. (She used the full curse word, but I will not write it on here.)" I did not respond to the waitress, and I will not name her here, because I refuse to stoop to her level. All this did was prove that she is rude, unprofessional, and out of line. Maybe if she took the amount of effort she put into finding and threatening me and actually put that into her work she'd get better tips to begin with. Regardless, as a waitress you are going to get bad tips sometimes but you can't take it personal and take it out on your customers. I myself have had people leave me no tip before and yeah it sucks, but I have never gone out my way to find and threaten them. THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR THAT WHATSOEVER. If you are going to eat there (though I advise that you don't), make sure you pay in CASH because otherwise the staff feels entitled to saving your information and taking things into their own hands. I feel so violated and will never step foot in there again.

What a wonderful surprise! High quality sushi. Presentation was beautiful. The staff very friendly and welcoming. The restaurant was packed, but no long wait (they move people in and out) - very efficient. I highly recommend!

We wanted a change of food scenery during our vacation. It was fairly busy for a weeknight. The menu was typical for an Asian Fusion restaurant. We got the Chicken Teriyaki (no brown rice substitute) with Miso Soup and three kinds of rolls. See pictures. Everything was good. They ran out of Fried Ice Cream so instead, we finished our meal with Fried Banana topped with Whipped Cream and Chocolate Syrup. It was equally delicious.
(4)Kyle H.
My party ordered 9 rolls and an order of salmon nigiri and fried dumplings. The dumplings and nigiri were both delicious and well presented. The sushi rolls on the other hand were rolled absolutely terribly. The quality of the fish and the presentation were both below what I would expect from a grocery store sushi stand let alone a sushi bar in OC. When we asked the waiter why the sushi was poorly rolled he said that their chefs might be in a rush. That being said I've been in much busier and more crowded sushi bars and never have I seen sushi this sloppy. I would try all of the other sushi restaurants in the area before coming back to give OC Wasabi another chance.

Sushi was good! My wife got the sashimi platter and pieces were big! The roles were on a smaller side but good never the less.very fresh Service was wonderful! Waitresses were attentive and very nice.

My first time in OCMD during July 4th weekend. We decided on sushi and to my surprise, I was able to make a reservation on the day and got seats for my time. The place was pretty packed when I walked in on a saturday night (holiday weekend) during dinner hours. The interior isn't anything special, just an open space. The sushi and service all met my expectations. We ordered ALOT of sushi with quite a bit of appetizers. They did get one order wrong; however, was able to give us the correct order along with not charging us for the wrong order they put on our table. We had sashimi, about 5 rolls of sushi, fried rice, gyoza, and octopus salad. The fried rice was really good, probably one of the best that I've had. The raw fish tasted fresh as I would expect from the shore and to my surprise, the price on the menu was very reasonable. We also had 2 bottles of sake, the asian pear one was good as it was a little sweet. Of note is that the spicy tuna roll, they actually use tuna inside rather than blended mesh of tuna most places do. Also, their crab sushi uses real crabs which isn't anything special I guess because I was in maryland but that was really tasty and authentic. Overall, an enjoyable sushi experience at the shore.

Awesome sushi. I wish there was one near where I live. I drove 60 miles out of my way to eat here. Kenny has come up with some truly awesome speciality rolls.
(5)Lisa C.
Delicious. Great service and very fast! The sushi was fresh and there was a lot of variety on the menu. Plus the restaurant was clean and nice.

I was in Ocean City for a convention. My team and I were looking to get some dinner on a Saturday night. we originally tried to go to a Mexican restaurant but the wait was 45 mins and we were hungry. A nice gentleman recommended that we try thus place. I called to see if there was a wait. We got lucky with no wait, but we had to rush over there because the kitchen was closing at 9:30pm. Most of my team ordered sushi. I ordered a noodle dish (I forgot the name of it). It was good, but my favorite dish was the chicken fried rice. It was so flavorful and the chicken pieces were moist and tender. I really considered ordering a plate to go, but I was leaving thr next day. Our waitress was really nice and friendly.

Surprisingly good sushi for ocean city. Much better than expected. This is a great spot in a town full of average beach buffets. Definitely recommend if you are looking for a solid meal!
(5)Robin W.
I would actually give this place 4 1/2 stars, but since fractions are not available, and I don't want to gyp the place, it gets 5 because when it comes to sushi in Ocean City, OC Wasabi is indeed as good as it gets. I attended alone on a weeknight in December. It was somewhat slow, but picked up as the night wore on. Parking for this establishment is in the back, not on Coastal Highway. The dining room seats about 50, not counting a small alcove in the front of the place where diners can sit Japanese-style. The sushi bar seats about 10. I was escorted quickly and pondered the extensive menu. There are many a la carte and combo sushi and sashimi options, along with a good cooked food menu (teriyaki and the like) and a diverse beer, wine, and sake list. Substitutions for various ingredients are available for a nominal charge. Since it was cold out, I selected a miso soup and two a la carte sushis, the Maria's Purple Isle, which combines tuna, avocado and mango; and a serving of ikura (salmon roe), which is one of my litmus tests for good sushi. The food came right away. The miso soup, a dependable staple at most Japanese and fusion restaurants, had good flavor but not enough diced tofu for my taste, plus it wasn't quite hot enough to warm me up. The nigiri and Maria's Purple Isle were presented together on the same board, with carefully finger-molded wasabi on one side and a decent portion of pickled ginger on the other. The ikura nigiri was outstanding--perfectly fresh, with delicate sea flavor. I pondered getting a second helping, but thought better of it--gotta watch my wallet and waistline! Two nigiri are $6.00; a quail egg can be added for $1.75, but I passed on that. The Maria's was also delicious, and a new flavor combination for me, with the almost-ripe mango providing a semisweet foil to the tuna and almost-ripe avocado, along with the soy sauce and wasabi I put on my rolls. I will definitely be getting this one again! I passed on dessert, since the only thing that appealed to me at the moment was ice cream, and I needed to stay warm. Total check came to $17.25 before tax and tip. A nice Japanese touch: the waiter handed me the menu and the check with both hands, the way Japanese businessmen hand you their business cards. I found that rather charming! By the way, the wait staff is all native speakers of English, although some of them are Asian. Asian-American, I guess. All in all, a great find in lower Ocean City. I definitely intend to return, and will bring friends here when they come to visit. Domo arigato gozaimasu, OC Wasabi!
(5)Jillian J.
Absolutely amazing sushi for a fair price! The service was super speedy, and our waitress Noy (Noi maybe, not sure how it's spelled) was SO SWEET. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone in the area! My favorites were the Philly and Key West Rolls!
(5)Daniel C.
The food here was exquisite. The soup was hot and refreshing and the shrimp tempura roll was delectable. The service was fast and efficient. I would recommend reserving a table because the restaurant is so popular. Over all my experience here was great. I strongly recommend this restaurant.
(5)Sherry J.
RJ and I stopped here for dinner on Saturday. The waiter was very friendly, and the food was fabulous. I ordered a peartini with grey goose pear and saint germaine liqueur which was outstanding...and STRONG!! We ordered shumai, gyoza, I ordered the OC roll with crab avocado, and asparagus, and RJ had the Key West roll with conch and I think the spider roll. They even substituted cucumber for him instead of avocado. For dessert we had a fried banana...YUM!!!!

We were in town during the off-season and were able to visit OC Wasabi before they closed for winter. What a delightful visit. For being in a 'tourist town,' we were pleasantly surprised by the very reasonable prices. My husband is picky about sushi. He like the 'exploratory' menu (shrimp heads, uni, etc.), and he was overly pleased with the quality and selection. This place is old school. It's as good as it gets for good sushi, good prices and excellent service. Would visit again. Enjoyed our dinner (as did our 5-year old)!
(5)Brittany K.
This place is always so great-- the food and service are great and the atmosphere is laid back. I am a local-- so we know where to go for the best sushi around the area and this is it.
(5)Jason B.
In oc for the weekend with family. Stopped in not expecting much and got less! Starter salad was over run with mustard sauce. Sushi was ok but not great. Staff was very bad. Not interested in providing service. Made us feel like we were a hindrance to her. We will not be back.
(2)Kimberly K.
Being of Japanese descent, this place is awesome! All dishes I've tried have quality ingredients and authentic flavors. The owner, Kenny greets and chats with the locals and customers and is very friendly. If you like to eat in a more casual environment you can eat in the lounge area. They have a great selection of beers - Hitachino and local Burley Oak. When you want something healthier than the board walk favorites this is a winner!
(5)Curtis B.
After looking at the rave reviews, we decided to try this place out. Of all the Japanese places I've gone, this is by far THE WORST!! Not impressed with the food at all. If you want to drink, eat mediocre food and be merry..this is the place for you!! OVERRATED!!
(1)Tracey F.
*Maria's purple Isle is a great roll Highly recommend it **The miso soup was excellent!! We will be coming back Great service too!!
(5)Tom C.
Great sushi place that screams "local favorite!" If you look at their menu and favorites, it's all named after their local customers! :) this was a very nice touch! Service was good and fast. The guys at the sushi bar are excellent, especially the guy called Yo! They prepare everything in front of you as you watch. Nothing mysterious here! All fresh and authentic ingredients! The cooked food is well made and they have a decent selection of Japanese beer too boot! Throw back a few shots of sake and enjoy the life at this beach town! I love it here! :)

Dining out for solo flyer can be daunting in O.C.: the endless clammer for tables, dodging the crowds, and finding that peaceful corner table with a view, absent the fraternity bros. as neighbors. Wasabi not only provided the elusive corner table with a view, but served up delicious dinner of miso (rich) soup, green (smoky) tea, tuna steak (rare) encrusted in panko and sesame seeds and topped with wasabi mayo and some decorative veg on the side. The green tea (hot) was replenished and simply delicious, redolent smokiness and not the least bit bitter, or, worse, flavorless. I liked it so much that I asked if it was for sale, which got a chuckle, but the young, polite waiter said it's flavored with roasted rice. Hmmm, note to self. The tuna steak could not have been better, it simply melted in my mouth it was that tender and fresh and perfectly cooked. Having overpaid for the ubiquitous crab cakes and a lousy baked potato (really?)just the night before and just at he next-door over restaurant, I felt I had stumbled into an oasis. Of course this was third week of September, one would expect crowds in the summer, but that tuna is good any season of the year and the green tea can be iced. I might just return before I exit O.C....
(5)Meredith S.
Great sushi, fast service (once seated) and good quality- very very crowded tho!!! If you are in a hurry or have hungry patrons who cannot wait I would try another place- otherwise, sit at the bar and have some drinks and wait it out!
(5)Lindsay E.
At the risk of exposing Ocean City's most precious gem, I write this review. I have never has a bad bite of food, nor have I has a less than awesome time at OC Wasabi. Hab and Chip are the most amazing bartenders, and Gretchen is the best on the restaurant side. Whichever side you choose to sit on, do yourself a favor and mention them by name. They are top notch and will treat you like family. That's what this place is about. Try the ponzu. It seems scary, but take the plunge. You only live once. But you can't go wrong ordering anything off this menu!
(5)Leslie W.
We were craving sushi during a trip to Ocean City and were a little skeptical of this place from he outside. The exterior looks like a dive bar and we actually hesitated before going in. But we were pleasantly surprised! The service was excellent and the sushi was not too shabby. The spicy California roll was delicious, just enough kick. I wish our local sushi spot had something similar. The only complaint: the rolls were a little small, both length and diameter (that's what she said). But they were delicious!
(4)Anie S.
This was a really fun restaurant I visited with a large group of friends. They had no trouble seating us, we were served fairly quickly (especially considering how crowded it was), our waitress was super friendly, and we were all happy with our food. I would highly recommend to anyone in Ocean City in the mood for some sushi or Japanese food.
(4)Shannon D.
We had a WONDERFUL dinner! Great service! Pan fried calamari (best ever), miso soup (such a rich broth) , spicy muscles (delish), dragon roll, spicy salmon roll- all wonderful! Best Sushi in ocean city!!
(5)Samantha G.
Are you dubious of strip-mall sushi in Ocean City, MD? Yeah, I was you once. Don't be scared, in fact- prepare to have your mind blown. Order the Baked Phatty Jay. You can thank me later. Fresh food, great service, awesome bartenders. Sit at the bar and just eat and drink whatever they recommend.
(5)Keith H.
If you're looking for sushi, the only place you need to remember is OC Wasabi on Coastal HWY in Ocean City. The sushi here has great fresh flavor for ananything you're looking for. Ocean City has a few sushi restaurants but OC Wasabi is where you want to be for good sushi.
(5)christina g.
Excellent. They have a diverse selection of food to suit any taste. From "regular" Chinese food, to sea urchin sushi everyone will find something. The bar is great also, the drinks are delicious. The service was always on point and we went 2 or 3 times while we were on vacation for a week! We will defiantly be returning here again!!
(5)Lynia D.
Atmosphere: Casual & relaxed Service: we had Gretchen. She was pleasant and knowledgeable. The other waitress interacted with us as well. She was pleasant. Overall: worthwhile. Tastiest roll: M&M. It was incredible. The Dynamite was a decent roll, get a sauce on the side for dipping. Neither roll had rice. This was a plus for us and we didn't even miss it. Miso soup was the best I've ever tasted. Rich broth that wasn't too salty. Nice amount of tofu and seaweed. It was so flavorful. Dessert: we had the fried ice cream. Oh. Em. Gee. Not your average fried ice cream. This one is breaded with pound cake, then battered and fried. Crazy. We also had the banana roll. This was not great. It was average. Banana was over ripened. The batter left something to be desired. Value: Special rolls were $10 and up. Its 20% off on Thursdays, off season. It wasn't crowded because it was off season. However, having tasted their offerings, I would definitely wait if there was one.
(4)Sara W.
Awesome locals spot! Fresh food everytime and not just sushi! Chip, Yo and the rest of the staff are over the top great to me every meal!
(5)Michael S.
Pleasantly surprised. I wasn't expecting great sushi in such a touristy place. Enjoyed the sushi and udon.
(5)Dan K.
Great local Japanese spot with tasty food including, of course, fresh sushi. The Ocean City roll was fantastic - lump crabmeat with asparagus on the inside and rice and avocado on the outside. My only complaint was that the service was subpar - the waitress forgot our appetizer and then gave it to us after our meal and still charged us the full price for it.
(4)Missy J.
Just "ok." I wanted this to be good but there was no "wow" and it was quite plain. The California roll contained imitation crabmeat (was expecting more, being on the shore), the Philly roll only contained salmon and cream cheese - no avocado or cucumber - and was really small. The spicy tuna was sub-par. Oh well.
(3)Ted K.
Great food. Fresh fish. Nice atmosphere. I loved the sashimi and the miso soup. They alsi have sapporo beer on tap which is neat.
(4)Rick R.
Always awesome. Great cuisine, steaks and sushi. Me, I prefer the bar area.
(4)Elizabeth G.
I love sushi and will never turn down a sushi. OC WASABI is delicious. pricey!!! long wait.. but.. i dont care.. BECAUSE it's SUSHI... i can tolerate that :)
(4)Dan E.
I ordered a sushi/sashimi combo. The fish was fresh and the portions ate pretty decent. I also had a shrimp tempura roll. It came with two rolls. The waitress was very friendly and offering to full my soda several times and came by several times to all how I was doing eventhough the place was pretty crowded.
(4)Peter K.
Good not great. Overrated because they are one of few Japanese/sushi offerings in Ocean City. The only reason I'd see someone come here is if they are sick and tired of eating crabs and want a change of pace. Good for families. Service was good but you pay a premium for average sushi. IFHTP 1
(3)Kevin C.
The sushi was fresh and flavorful, so that's the main thing. Space is small and simple - nothing fancy. Good service. The Miso soup was way too salty. My wife ordered an assortment of sushi rolls and was instead brought a sushi/sashimi combo platter. Thought it was wrong, but she didn't care, so she ate it. Of course, that entry was $10 more than what she had ordered. Perhaps that's for the best because the California Roll that came with mine was the smallest and least creative I've seen. Still, the platters were generous enough to satisfy, the price was fair and again - bottom line - it was good, well prepared fresh sushi, so all in all, we were pleased.
(3)Jill S.
Disappointed in the sushi. It was awful. Service was decent.
(2)Raven G.
I have been to OC Wasabi many times, but this was the best experience I have ever had this far! Our server, Melissa, is what really made our experience wonderful. She was attentive, sweet as can be, and super understanding when we were being a little complicated. We tipped her over 30% and she deserved every penny! Additionally, our sushi was made to perfection. This is definitely the best sushi place in town!
(5)Ryan A.
We always hold out for a seat at the bar, the guys there keep good music playing and a fun atmosphere. I've never been let down from anything on the menu. The owner can usually be seen coming out to check on things and talk to people which is nice to see.
(5)Dossy S.
Coming from northern NJ, our expectations of what "good sushi" is a pretty high bar. Even more so that I'm Japanese ... Having said that, we didn't know what to expect when we decided to try out OC Wasabi. From the outside, it looks pretty divey. When we walked in at 7:30pm, the place was fully packed -- we actually had to wait 10 minutes to get seated. This was the first sign that we were in for a good surprise. My wife ordered the genmaicha, which isn't usually on the menu but a good sushi place will sometimes have. Sadly, though, most places brew their green tea the way white people brew their Lipton -- letting the tea steep for minutes in boiled water -- which is the wrongity-wrong-wrong way to brew green tea. However, whoever made the genmaicha for us tonight at OC Wasabi knows what the heck they're doing: it was probably the best we've had that wasn't home-made. We had ordered two Sashimi Bounties for the adults and some norimaki and a chicken teriyaki for the kids. The norimaki were okay, could have been made a bit neater. The sashimi was good, the fish was cool, just warm enough, and they used actual shiso leaves as garnish in front of the daikon instead of the imitation plastic stuff. The shiso was a bit wilted, but I suspect most people don't actually know you can (and should!) eat it -- it still smelled good and tasted good. We also ordered the salmon skin maki as it's one of my wife's favorites, and they GOT IT RIGHT. Many places either burn the crap out of it, or don't toast it enough. These guys got it just right: just crispy, toasted enough to unlock that heat-activated umami flavor from the fat underneath the skin. Brilliant! Again, very pleasantly surprised. Overall, I'd give this place a solid 4 or even 4.5 stars for the food -- given the location (touristy Ocean City full of white people) and the location, I was totally expecting a solid middle-of-the-road 3 at best -- we're really glad this place totally exceeded expectations. We'll definitely be coming back to OC Wasabi on our future family vacations to OC.
(4)Jacob L.
Considering Ocean City, MD is the LAST place you'd expect to find good sushi, OC Wasabi is excellent. Though the food is quite good and the service attentive, there's a problem. The restaurant cannot seem to discipline the young, loud, rude and drunk high school and college aged kids that frequent the establishment. These kids need to be educated on what a Sushi Bar actually is. What they don't understand is, it's not an actual bar. At any given moment a family dinner will be interrupted by young, dumb, drunk kids loudly pounding "Sake Bombs", hitting the bar/table, and yelling. OC Wasabi doesn't ID their drinkers and they don't stop or regulate the awful behavior. It's THEIR fault and they do nothing to change it. Do yourself a favor and find another Sushi place farther away from the Fraternity party known as "The Inlet".
(2)Monica M.
I was starting to get upset because all of the food we had while in ocean city was bad with terrible, terrible service. This place had a great vibe and awesome sushi. It took a while but it was very crowded and well worth the wait! Definitely recommended to sushi lovers looking for a fix :)
(4)Samantha M.
This is by far some of the best sushi I have eaten. The quality is superb, the rolls are just the right size and everything has it's own unique taste, unlike some places that everything ends up just being too heavy and all tasting the same. Staff is friendly and the prices are awesome as well.
(5)Suzi G.
The only japanese restaurant in OC, hidden but alive inside on a sat nite, the bar was full (but small), and all the chefs were asian (our waitress was european tho ;) carrot ginger dressing is pretty but too sweet and missing ginger? Miso soup suspiciously sweet and msg content suspect. Out of urchin, toro and salmon (?!?) which will probably make this experience less memorable on principle. However, the yellowtail was rich, salmon roe scrumptious, and hamachi fresh.
(3)Dale H.
Food was pretty good. Service could improve. Price was relatively high. Pretty good Japanese food away from home.
(4)Nicole H.
Picked up carry out for lunch and thought the three rolls we ordered were ehhh. They all we very bland, the crunchy roll was soggy, and we not impressed at all. Will not be going back.
(1)Dalton W.
The best sushi place in Ocean City. Service is great. No matter what you get you will enjoy it.
(5)Susie J.
Oh ocean city: your setup as a tourist attraction inevitably makes it a foodie's desert. Catering mostly to the hounds of high school june bugs and families who don't mind the double deep fried seafood so coated you can't tell what it was supposed to be had it not been your order... Oc wasabi is a step above when it's not during the summer season peak. Please keep in mind I'm judging the fish. If you're wanting to stockpile your table with tempura, teriyaki, and fried rice- than read no more. They're sushi is average at best when served with care. If you go when it's off season, you'll find kind people, a good selection (sushi ships in on Wednesday's) and decent prices because of discounts during the weekdays. Thursday's are usually 20% off the bill which makes it worth it when I'm craving it. In short- for the already limited selection on Delmarva, it fixes your craving. But, avoid it in the summer. Fall and Spring is the way to go.
(2)Eric C.
You need to be here! Awesome atmosphere! The sushi is the best I ever had. Don't be fooled by the appearance from the street. Try the sushi sashimi combo or the m&m roll! They play great tunes inside too!
(5)Susan G.
Good sushi. Nothing remarkable. Rolls were small but there was some different selections. We got the m and m and the Hawaiian roles which were good.
(3)Heather L.
visited on a weeknight around 9pm so it wasn't very packed but a decent crowd. really good music played inside. the rolls were on the small side but there were a few unique rolls and they were all fresh. service was quick and friendly. probably deserves about a 3.5 but unfortunately yelp won't allow half star reviews. my only complaint was a roll featuring "jumbo lump" crab meat, but it tasted more like canned crabmeat and not authentic lump.
(3)Kate F.
I was in Ocean City last night and opted to go for sushi. In the past two years my husband and I have been struck again and again with bad food in Ocean City, and we were getting a little skeptic. We opted to try out O.C Wasabi, because we both like Japanese and it was close by. This place was by far one of the best sushi restaurants I've been to. The sushi was fresh, the service was good and we got our food right away. I only have really two complaints about this place. One: the price. There was no reasonable selections for a sushi dinner and for the very little food we got, it seemed like we paid far too much. The other was with a selection I made from the kitchen. I ordered pot stickers and they came out overcooked and greasy. I will definitely return to this place in the near future.
(4)Lucia L.
Really really hate to write a bad review about any restaurant. However, I gave this joint a two star because the service was decent. If I have to rate their food, decor, and presentation, I would barely give it 1 star. This is my 2nd time there in a Month, and everytime I go this place did not fail to dissapointed me. From the over done, tough to chew through beef negimaki drenched in sticky glue sauce on top. To my, black freezer burn disgusting NY strip steak teriyaki and the deep fry drench in oil (supposedly oven baked) spicy mussel??! Their top selling specialty M&M roll is nothing but crabsticks, eel, avocado and cream cheese battered deep fried, they charge $14 dollars for it. I don't know if I am just ordering all the wrong items off the menu or is the quality of the restaurant really that bad? I am a foodie, so I know I alot of locals who loves the place. Maybe it is really the place they love and not the quality of the food. To sum it up, I will not go back.

I got a couple of sushi rolls for take out. The fish was so much more fresh than what I'm used to. The price wasn't bad either, especially for the quality of fish that I had. Parking is a little tricky, but I suppose that's true for any business on the Coastal Highway. My wife's family goes to Ocean City every summer; now I have something to look forward to since I'm not a beach/tourist trap person.

Exceptional food! We went with a group of 11 on July 25th. They seated us all together with no hassle and the service was excellent.

I am unworthy to be the first reviewer of OC Wasabi! But it's an honor I couldn't possibly resist. This is one of the hippest restaurants in Ocean City, and it's only a few blocks past the top of the boardwalk along Coastal Highway. It's open off season, at least in April and October when I visit every year, and though there are fewer regulars occupying the beautiful and warmly lit dining room then, their faces decorate the walls in hundreds of photos, their names are sprinkled through the menu on items they helped inspire, and even chairs are decorated with plaques honoring them. The sushi chefs are young, talented, artistic and friendly. They always try to make eye contact and smile at me - maybe they're testing to see whether I'm "regular" material, but I'm just too shy. Because I come in around 5 p.m. on off-season weekends, I always feel like I showed up late to a really great party where everyone has already paired off and gone home with each other. I recommend everything, but if you must know details: the unagi don is spicier than it normally is, which I like a lot. I once saw an $85.95 King Boat for 4 being prepared and was amazed at the size and variety. Definitely consider it if you're in a group!! It's served on a gorgeous boat-shaped platter that will impress your dining companions (and everyone else in the room) and it's a bargain at $21 per person. The cowboy roll (shrimp tempura inside, eel outside) and the dynamite roll (deep fried with crab stick and scallop) are heavenly. The specialty rolls are the ones named after regulars and store employees, including one named after "Kevin", who I think is the owner. A lot of plaintive messages are addressed to Kevin on OC Wasabi's myspace page. He really deserves all the love. Don't pass this up! Check it out next time you're in OC. Paired with a coffee from Wawa and a cocktail from Seacrets, it's worth a day trip on its own! When the restaurant is full, they don't do take out, but you can get it most of the time.

Love the sushi here! I go here whenever I'm in OC. And the new expanded bar makes it a great place to have a few drinks with your sushi.

This place was okay. Nothing spectacular. The fried rice my daughter had tasted like frozen chungking from the grocery store. :( The sushi didn't taste fresh either. Definitely wouldn't recommend it to anyone! :(

we went here the other night in a big group. the restaurant is split into two parts...the bar area and the restaurant area. the bar area is super funky and i would reccommend eating here instead of in the restaruant. the staff are relaxed in a good way, and food comes out pretty quick. as a lover of japanese food though, i didnt think it was anythign special. they had a lot of choices on the menu for differnt rolls, but it was a all of 'medium' yummyness. the atmosphere is good though and it is nice to have japanese amongst all the pizza and crab restaurants.

I have never had a bad meal from OC Wasabi. I would highly recomend it to anyone. Great atmosphere and always a good time.

OC Wasbai is Ichiban in Ocean City!

Expensive and the only thing that wasn't screwed up was the rice. The terriaki sauce was the worst... It ruined my scallops. Portions were terribly small as well. All three of us hated it. Avoid.

Great food and service. The place is a favorite of the locals. We visit at least once each time we come to OC and have never been disappointed.

Unique menu items, plus long time favorites! If you like sushi, this is the place to go in Ocean City... everything is prepared fresh, the atmosphere is modern and the staff is very friendly. I really enjoy the Rockfish Ponzu and the White Tuna Sashimi.

We went looking for Sushi in OC, MD. We checked the reviews on YELP and OC won! We had a great Japanese Style booth in the window which was really nice! The place was packed even off-season! We had the BAKED Phatty Jay Roll and it was truly amazing and unique! You need to order the baked version which is the chef's original creation. For great food and service this is the place for SUSHI in this summer tourist locale.

I had a great dinner here on a girlfriends trip to OC. Everything was really fresh and there was a lot of variety on the menu. I recommend the Ocean City roll and the plum wine!

Solid spot for sushi. Rolls are a little small, but you can get more variety that way plus they aren't padded with a ton of rice. Sashimi was delish! Maybe a tad pricey but very yummy nonetheless.

Just ate at OC Wasabi last week while on an off-season visit to OC. We were surprised by this little place. Had a nice little date there, enjoyed the food and booze, and walked out feeling pretty good. I ordered the Chef's Combo (I think it was called) and when I asked the waitress if ugami was part of the "chef's selection" she went and spoke to the chef and ensured that I got two pieces of ugami nigiri sushi. I haven't eaten at any other sushi joint in OC, but this one was quite good and I will probably go back.

After seeing the great reviews we were looking forward to dinner at this place. I ordered the California rolls and they came out really small, I felt like I could've gotten better ones at the grocery store. I also had the Tofu Teriyaki dish, I didn't realize it would be breaded and fried. My hubbie ordered some raw sushi and yaki udon noodles. They somehow forgot about the sushi order and he ended up canceling it. Noodles were really sweet. This wasn't quite the experience we were expecting, especially with a $46 dinner tab.

Good Sushi, a rare gem for Ocean City. Sushi was good, very fresh, and tasted fresh, however I have had better. Will definately visit next fall

Best sushi on the shore! Kenny and crew do it right with the freshest fish and a laid back atmosphere. Plus they stay open late during the summer. A locals favorite

I stay a block away from OC Wasabi so I frequent this place a lot. I was having a craving for Unagi and I was impressed. First, the place was packed (good sign). I just get take out but the restaurant is very nice and clean.

This place kind of has a monopoly on the sushi in OC. Not that they abuse that power though. The sushi we had was very good and the service was great. The sushi chefs behind the bar were top notch. One of them was working on an experiment roll and gave the fruits of his labor to us and other couple at the bar. The roll needed some work, but it's the thought that counts when it comes to handouts like that.

even keeping in mind this restaurant is in a resort town therefore its expected to be over priced, I can only give it two stars. The portions are way too small. The rolls barely have anything in them. I never had a problem with the service or the freshness of the sushi but the portions are so small, its almost a joke.

Sooo delicious!! Try the m&m roll...can't go wrong with fried sushi!
(5)Gadget S.
Excellent, fresh sushi, good variety on the menu. Friendly, helpful staff. Looks a bit shabby from the outside (but then doesn't everything in OC??), but inside it is nicely decorated and exceeded our expectations. Really nothing to complain about, except maybe the expensive edemame ($6!!). Note Thursdays is 20% off.

Everyone enjoyed the food, and some warm house saki.

Chef should take some more sushi making lessons. Sushi rice did not have any taste and they just made a small rice ball for nigiri-sushi. Wasabi is so hard to break in. I have never had such hard wasabi. This is the second worst sushi I ever ate. Maybe people can be fooled if you never ate good sushi, but I wouldn't go there again. It is waist of money.

We had take out from this place in August of 09. Fish quality was fine. However, the rolls were very small. We ordered specialty rolls and they were smaller than the basic rolls that I am used to at home. I would not go back to this place ever. Later in the week we ordered from Yokozuma in the Gold Coast Mall and it was far superior in every aspect.
